The show is strange. It does an excellent job paying homage to sitcoms from the decades from the 1950s to the 2000s. Meanwhile, its own story with unique twists and turns is going on in the background. The surreal nature of the first couple of episodes was almost enough to put us off from the show entirely, but the third episode had me hooked. I think that I even appreciated waiting a week between episodes so I could look up what the Internet had to say about the show, its Easter eggs, and its possibilities.
The only downside of that is that some of the theories ended up being more interesting than the actual shows story. More than once, the show teased something (including one moment that truly had me yelling with excitement) only to mostly fall short of my (and the Internet's) expectations. It still was a good show with a mostly satisfying conclusion that also teases of things to come (be sure to watch both post-credit scenes). Still, I cannot help but feel a bit cheated by what could have been.
I do recommend watching the show, and I may do so again to see how everything ties together now that I know how it ends. If anything, its sitcom tribute is a good deal of fun. However, I think that it's Elizabeth Olsen's performance that truly deserves accolades.
