Today, I brought out my winter coat. Normally, its introduction waits until the first snowfall, but I have to stand outside in the early morning for parking lot duty and the temperatures have dropped to the twenties during that time of day. For that matter, I wish I had the presence of mind to pull it out when we went to the football game on Friday.
With the coat comes also the change in footwear. My dress shoes will make their way to one of the storage bins in the garage as my work boots have now joined the other boots and shoes in our arctic entryway. Honestly, if they didn't get so warm and did not cause such difficulty to tie, I would otherwise want to wear my boots year round. Not only do they provide a more comfortable day on my feet, they also make me a little bit taller ... not that I care about such things.
While my eyes well up a bit at the thought of putting the garb of summer away, I have to say that the smell of winter in the air has brought that feeling of excitement back into my heart.
