I had planned on waiting until it came out on video, but Alex expressed interest in seeing it in the theater, so we went last Saturday ... and had a blast!
Full disclosure: nearly every movie is more fun to watch with Alex. She has an infectious laugh and responds quite vocally to movies and TV shows in the best possible way. Having her with me certainly made the movie more enjoyable. Still, it was a good, funny movie. It wasn't as good as the original, but it was miles better than the sequel. It gave nods to fans of the first movie while still paving its own way for its story, characters, and comedy.
In many ways, it's more visually impressive and family friendly than the original. There are still a few scary moments, but the comedy was generally light-hearted and relatable. It's one of few modern movies that I'd be willing to see with my mother.
I encourage fans of Ghostbusters and fans of comedy to encourage these kinds of films by buying a ticket to this one.
