Today, the wind was lashing at the sign as I was holding it. I kept my back towards the south where the wind was coming from as a way to mitigate its effects. It still whipped at my jacket and tugged at the hat I was wearing (as protection against sun and rain).
While none of our trees came down, they looked like could at any time. We still have the one tree that fell from last month's (or was it the month before's?) big windstorm. With all of the beetle-killed trees this year, strong storms like this have the potential to really cause so damage.
This windy day felt like a breaking point in our weather--which has been quite pleasant for this week. I think that I need to find my driving gloves and cold-weather hat again. If nothing else, they'll help deal with the elements while I'm holding that stop sign.
