I was pleased with how smoothly everything worked. Connor was up and alert with no trace of whiney behavior. We got Janelle to work with plenty of time and then started on my list. As our main stop was at Fred Meyer, that list was primarily socks (which were 1/2 off). Connor decided that we would stand in line for the half hour between when we dropped off Janelle and when the store doors opened. He was concerned that we would not be able to get the Nintendo Switch that was advertised (and he was right to be concerned, but we still managed to get it). Despite it being cold, he later said that it was his favorite part of the experience. We had very friendly people around us. One younger man in particular was quite willing to talk with Connor about Minecraft and Zelda.
After our preliminary tour of Freddy's, we then went to the Kenai Walmart. There, I loaded up on discounted movies and video games (Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey are no longer on my gift list). I also looked at a replacement Christmas tree, but items there were not signed or tagged for their Black Friday specials.
Connor and I did another swing through Fred Meyer for a few items that we had checked at Walmart but realized that Freddy's had the better deal (especially with Janelle's discount). We headed home, but that was not my last time in Freddy's, as I walked around with Janelle once her shift was over. It was then that I picked up our new Christmas tree. My plan is to set it up tomorrow at some point when we are not dealing with the new appliances that are being delivered.
Meanwhile, I did not wait (nor did I plan to wait) until Christmas to unpack and hook up our new Switch. The system has been quite a bit of fun to play. My only concern is that my daughter is going to want to take it home with her when she visits for Christma.
