Today’s end of the school year staff luncheon felt different than the previous ones to me. We are losing a large number of staff members, including several of my friends. We also said goodbye to our principal as he heads to district office. I know that change is a necessary part of life, but it felt like too much is changing too quickly.
To make the experience more surreal, I finally met the young woman who designed the cover for my novel, Dragon Hunter. I brought the copy I kept in my classroom to give her. I love that cover and was glad to have a chance to at least slightly repay the artist who made it.
It was a day of mixed emotions.
