Janelle stayed with them yesterday, while I accompanied them today. All of the boys brought back platefulls of cupcakes from the cakewalk. Connor specialized in ring tossing, earning him sodas, iced teas, and flavored waters. Rowen's costume was a bit too boxy for refined movement, so he often took off portions of it to participate in the games. Watching him stiff-leggely dance around the cakewalk was hilarious, but I didn't think to take a video of it until he decided he was done.
I found myself manning the popcorn station, both popping the corn and wandering around like a sports arena vendor. And here I thought I was through with weekend popcorn sales now that the Cub Scout popcorn fundraiser is over. Unlike Janelle and the boys, I did not wear a costume. I had toyed with the idea of wearing a sign that said "Forgotten responsibilities" or "Other people's political views"--you know, scary stuff--but laziness won out.
It's hard to believe that this was our fourth year attending the carnival. Time certainly does pass by quickly.
