As Janelle has to work tomorrow (grrr ... businesses that are open on Thanksgiving ...), we had our family Thanksgiving dinner this evening. Everything was amazing! We stuck to our traditional family dishes: turkey (which had been brined), cream cheese mashed potatoes, green bean casseroles (one with mushrooms and one without), sweet potato casserole, cranberry relish, and butter rolls. Janelle also added cream cheese zucchini appetizers to go with the black olives.
The food was stunning. Everyone in the family pitched in at some point to help make the meal which I think made it even more special. Still, the star of the show was certainly Janelle. I am eternally grateful that the love of my life loves to cook and is amazing at it as well. I almost feel like my kitchen becomes one of those reality cooking shows when she gets to work.
With four pies in the wings for dessert, I'm glad that I have the next couple of days to work off some of these calories.
