- Move my Starlink dish. Quite likely this will happen this Saturday. At a minimum, I need to put the cord from the dish to the router through a wall rather than its current position in one of our upstairs windows. As the old cord has been pinched in the window all year, I have a new cord to use. As long as I am switching out cords, I should also move the dish from the top of the garage to the top of our house roof (now that I won't be sliding off the roof). Putting it there adds another 12 feet to its height above the ground and makes it so the cable isn't hanging out in the open between the garage and our house. Why this Saturday? It's getting warm in our living room, so I need to be able to use that window again.
- Clean up the garage. The mess has been spreading to the point that it's getting difficult to move around in there. Aside from getting rid of some of the old boxes of the boys' outgrown clothes and reorganizing the box use and layout, I also want to put some hooks for the bikes so that they can be up and out of the way.
- Clean out some of my old clothes. I have shirts that I haven't worn (for one reason or another) for years now. It's time to free up some closet and dresser space.
- Organize my office. I had this on my list last summer and I made a small dent, but I really need to make some quality rearrangements in here, especially as I no longer need the piles of stuff I used for my doctorate.
- Ugh. I should try to publish a condensed version of my dissertation in an educational journal. Sure, people can technically find it now, but I need to make it more available if I truly want it to be of value to anyone besides myself.
- Similarly, I would like to self-publish a better edited version of Dragon Hunter. I sifted through it with the feedback of several people over the years, but I would like to put the fixed version out there so that my "Columbia" instead of "Colombia" mistake doesn't keep staring me in the face.
- I want to record "Read Alouds" for all of the readings in my literature classes. I have a surprising (to me) amount already done (even if most do start with "Hi. I'm Mr. Marks" instead of "Hi. I'm Dr. Marks"), but I would like to fill the rest of the holes. I've had many student remark about how helpful the Read Alouds can be, especially if they've missed class. They don't replace my live performances and lessons, but they're much better than having nothing.
- I want to have my tentative schedule of lessons ready for the classes that I am currently listed to teach.
- I want to complete at least three specific video games: Tears of the Kingdom, Jedi Survivor, and God of War Ragnarok. At present, Tears of the Kingdom has too many other family members interested in it for me to get in the amount of gameplay that I would want. I'm working on the Burning Tides expansion of Horizon Forbidden West at the moment, but it seems to be wrapping up quickly, so I will probably work on the other two games until the Zelda fervor dies down.
- I want to put my past blogs into more readable summary files. In fact, I want to get the last few years into any kind of file as I haven't cataloged anything since 2019. I have a plan in the back of my mind to publish them on Amazon at some point just so that I can then buy (and thus have) my own physical copies of them. Although the process is cumbersome, it might end up being less expensive and more impressive-looking than just printing them myself.
Ten seems to be a solid number to end on. It also happens to be all that's coming to mind at the moment. We will see what I actually manage to accomplish.
